All of our Misattributed Quotes are ones that we love, but they're attributed to the wrong person, or the actual source has never been found.

– Not Albert Einstein
Who said it? The first recorded instance of this phrase (or something like it) is from 1981, in an article in a Knoxville, Tennessee newspaper describing a conversation at an Al-Anon meeting. Source: Quote Investigator
“Be Curious, Not Judgmental”
– Not Walt Whitman
Who said it? While similar expressions are found starting in the 1970s, the earliest confirmed use of this exact phrase is from an advice column in a January 1986 edition of the Charlotte Observer. Source: Snopes
“Be the change you want to see in the world”
– Not Mahatma Gandhi
Who said it? Almost every word that Gandhi wrote or said is recorded, so we can be sure this quote does not originate with him. The closest words he wrote were in an article about protecting yourself from snakebites. The actual quote originates in a 1970 report by Arleen Lorrance about a project she created to improve the education of the students at Thomas Jefferson High in Brooklyn.
